Calvinist Faith

I love John Calvin's definition of "faith":

"A firm and certain knowledge
of God's benevolence toward us,
founded upon the truth
of the freely given promise in Christ
both revealed to our minds
and sealed upon our hearts
through the Holy Spirit."

So, faith is a kind of 'knowledge.'

It is founded upon a promise.

It is known in the mind
and in the heart.

The Holy Spirit gives us this knowledge.
